Melanesians and a Ballista

Starting to get my mojo back and so painting has occurred. Next spring we are putting on a participation game at the Hammerhead show, my 1st real attempt at this. We are planning a South Seas pulp adventure with captured damsel needing rescue, heroic sailor types, dastardly Kreigsmarine, magnificent monsters and noble savages. All are already painted except the islanders.
Who does the best pulp figures, Pulp Figures do.

Tried doing tattoos, can't do tattoos. However dabs of thinned black look good from afar

I also painted a Ballista. I met the author Harry Sidebottom at the the other Partizan, he's often there selling his books. He's a thoroughly nice chap and I love the books. I bought the 3 I was missing that are prequels and introduce as a side character the hero of the main series. The Romanised Angle Marcus Clodius Ballista. He has a model of the figure that he gives out, made by Aventine (I think) and he's a nice figure

I've also bought my Christmas present which I will pick up at Battleground on Saturday. It's an entire 15mm Classical Indian Army by Essex via Col Bill. Always wanted one and it will give me something to complete for the Challenge. It has 9 elephants, that's a lot of elephants

What Ever Happened to Fay Wray?

That delicate satin draped frame.

I bought very little at the Other Partizan but I needed something to mount on the top of my pyramid, Luckily Cortani and Pulp miniatures came to the rescue

Cortani have an Aztec altar piece that fits nicely on the top of the pyramid. Pulp Miniatures have a pack of 1930's female captives including a brilliant King Kong piece of Fay Wray strung up between 2 posts awaiting the big ape.

The Cortani piece comes with its own altar top of a small monolith with a crocodile head piece

Overall I'm very pleased with the bits and now for a bit of pulp action

Yet more painting

I seem to be painting like a maniac at the moment.

The are the film and historical versions of Lt Bromhead by Trent Miniatures ( although they have a Copplestone feel). These are very nice figs and will finish off the 24th Foot as an officer and an NCO.

The African Campaign has seen the Germans fight and lose their 1st major battle against the Zulus. The all female army needed reinforcements so these are some more Askaris. These are Dixon's Dahomey "Amazon" headhunters. A really good collection.

What the Germans lacked was trusted scouts so they have employed a trio of famed hunters. These will provide much needed expertise and lead the Askari units. Pulp Miniatures from Dice Bag Lady.

Finally a socialist flag bearer for the Northumberland Miners Collective. The flag is an envelope and I'm undecided if to take off the visible while, it looks liketrim and gives the flag an outline.

Also made some hedges out of pan scourers but they are still drying. And so ends a hectic month (well last two weeks anyway). I'm quite ill at the moment due to my broken brain, hence the painting rush, but in 5 weeks I get a month off to recharge my batteries and come up for air.
