Battleground and some Painting

With Christmas and the Challenge around the corner the Battleground show is a great opportunity to renew the massive lead pile. Bought loads of stuff, none of which is on display here - it's spread around the family to return to me. I bought loads of second hand stuff and 1/2 a 6mm BOAR army with James. Great for Team Yankee.
We played a display game - our group project was 10mm ACW and we fought the battle of Stones River

The opening. Me Dave and Steve are Union defending this end. My troops are closest with Dave and Steve in the field and woods to my right. James, Pete, Angus and John are the Rebels and are attacking

My forces

Angus immediately charges into the massed Union forces, who fire and miss. 1/2 an army fires and misses. Dave is immediately banned from firing again

Confederate reserves

Meanwhile Westerhope Gamers on the next table are fighting Wellington in India

My brigade advances to sweep the confederates flank

The confederates are pushing forward quickly

My troops faces James'

Last turn and I charge - I would have fired for longer but time was pressing. James, as usual gets epic dice and i am rebuffed. Victory to the Rebels

I have also done some painting

Pulp Figures German Seebattalion - needs a flag

Askari support

Steam Punk George Stephenson - freebie from Partizan couple of years ago

I have a hankering for Necromunda and not being one to follow Gamesop I bought a gang from Hasslefree

Dad - a famed genetic engineer and body modifier

Agnes - the sweet one armed with an automatic grenade launcher (actually a blunderbuss with a magazine attached

Grace - the mad one armed with a blaster (flintlock with telescopic sight) and a robot arm

Mum, armed with an automatic nail gun and a massive sword
Dad was famed for his work on genetically modifying animals and the family pets got the full works

Scooby in power armour with a nail gun

Winston with a nail gun, in power armour

However he got into real trouble when he broke into the zoo

Po - panda with a light sabre

Uncle Ducky - duck billed platypus with a BFG

I did buy 3 sci fi terrain kits from the bring and buy, this is 1/2 of one of them.

What 7 things do all East African Slavers Need

I've completed the Foundry Zanzibari slavers

Bad guy with a whip

Really old bronze cannon

Err - a big dinosaur (can't remember who)

3 little dinosaurs (same company i can't remember)

And a gun emplacement - from Barrage

I think that should cover all eventualities when moving slave about the continent

Slavers from Zanzibar

Over the summer I stopped by the Wargames Foundry office and shop in Little Stoke - very much 2nd star on the right and straight on til morning. It was fun, they gave me a cup of tea and I spent £100. Fair exchange I thought.
Since then I've done no painting at all but the challenge in looming and I needed to get my eye back in. Half the packs I bought were Zanzibari slavers and they are excellent figures full of character

I really enjoyed painting these, mojo risin'. These will work well in my very generic Muslim army and especially in Back of Beyond 1920's campaign I am building up. Got the Afghans (inc. these) and the Bolsheviks (in post)

Aftermath of an Assassination - The Assault on Coldstream

The Death of  Lord Ridley had filled the radio channels is panicked cries for help and revenge. The Fascists will want revenge but it will take time to call the troops to punish Coldstream.

The troops from the firebase are ordered forward to support the Vampires on the edge of town. The artillery can only reach the edge of town, this battle will be won by infantry and armour.

More militia arrive in Coldstram to support the defence

The cricketers advance to take the hill. However the team captain is distracted by news from home. His wife and daughter have been see around town with the notorious philanderer Alan Clark. Is he to be cuckolded.

Following the cricketers are the Post workers Union, heavily armoured with rockets and machine guns

The 1st XI cross the hill under fire from the Vampires in the house

More Vampires and another Lancia arrive

The Vampires are under heavy fire from the snipers who have advanced to a shop

The Posties put a machine gun and a squad into the row of terraced houses to hold the flank

Posties advance and set up their rockets. The Cricket Captain is still inconsolable and somebody should make him a brew

The opening salvo of the Rockets destroys the Lancia on the edge of town

But the infantry have arrived and advance to the old farmhouse and along the hedge line

The cricket team have taken up position around the pigsty but more Vampires have debused from the Lancia and just in time as the cricket bat mortars have opened up and destroyed it

The cricket bat mortars - the 2 opening batsmen hitting hand grenades for 6, treated as light mortars. The Captain is recovered and furious. But withering fire from the Vampires wipes out the cricket team

On the other side of town, under the cover of the burning Lancia a squad of postmen advance to try and take out the Vampires in the house. The Vampires are now at 1/2 strength and heavily pinned

A random event dice causes the Vampires to charge out the house and charge the Postmen, slaughtering them all
The Vampires were now dangerously exposed but drew the next dice and retreated back into the house.

The loss of the 1st XI has forced the remaining cricketers back to the cover of the terraced row.
The battle lines are now drawn. The Fascists own one end of the town and the towns people the other end. Will either side get the required strength the take out the other.
